Exciting times for Tineke

Good afternoon all

We have had a couple of exciting weeks, following the opening of our gorgeous little shop in Matlock. I’m pleased to say we have been busy, and met lots of new lovely and exisiting customers who we hope to see again and again.

We were very pleased to find out that we have been shortlisted for the Wedding industry awards for the East Midlands!!! Fingers crossed that we win! We should know by the end of the month……

Following being awarded the entry into the Good florist guide, the florist and wholesale buyer are featuring us in their next edition, few snippets of the article below – great to hear such amazing feedback on how other people see our business that we work very hard for.

Kerry Wilkinson had always wanted to be a florist ever since, aged just 11, she first worked in a local flower shop during her school holidays. 19 years on and Kerry is fulfilling her ambition with her successful and stylish shop, Tineke Floral Designs, thriving in the picturesque town of Matlock, Derbyshire………..

…….Tineke has been open for business for six years now and in that time the shop has built a fantastic reputation in the world of weddings. You only have to log onto Kerry’s website, (www.tinekefloraldesigns.co.uk) to see what an amazing job the business is doing, with Kerry saying that the growth of the business has been amazing…………

“I’m so happy with how it has progressed. I’ve gone from working in a garden shed, then to a lock up unit and finally to our gorgeous flower shop today.

“When I left school I tried A-Levels, but they just bored me! So I went to college to gain my BTEC diploma in floristry. After that, it started with doing family and friend’s weddings and, as word got around, I got busier and busier. And so Tineke was born!”

…….The shop today is classically simple, with Kerry explaining: “We just wanted to keep the décor simple, and let the quality of the flowers and range speak for themselves.”

The shop looks and feels luxurious and chic, with a neutral palate of creams and duck egg blue. The use of wallpaper adds that stylish quality and this is reflected in all other areas of Kerry’s work…………

…………Interestingly, the shop’s style is very much in keeping with the white hybrid tea rose called Tineke that provided the inspiration for the shop’s name. Kerry loves white roses, so Tineke seemed a fitting name………

…….Kerry has developed her vision for Tineke into more than just a florist, but into a customer’s retail dream. The shop does so much more than sell flowers: it sells customers an image and a lifestyle, one that appeals to a lot of people……..

………….everything from branding to business cards is up to the highest of standards, whilst the company has also featured in Save the Date, a wedding magazine for the East Midlands. A photo shoot in the magazine featuring Kerry’s designs not only showcases her work, but markets the fact that this is a business that, once again, does so much more than flowers. Kerry is also part of a competition in the magazine, again circulating Tineke’s name as much as possible. Competitions are a great way to get customers interested, after all, who doesn’t like a chance to win? Especially when it comes to weddings in the current economic climate……..

In addition, Tineke has recently joined the website www.notonthehighstreet.com, with an editorial on this included in Save the Date. The website acts as a market place for small independent businesses to get their products out there to a wider audience, a great idea for florists……….

…..As mentioned earlier, Kerry has recently had the front of the shop redone, with a new wedding consultation area also included. As seen in the pictures, the improvements are impressive, creating a chic boutique space for brides to come and talk about their wedding flowers. …..

Kerry says that she is already nearly fully booked for weddings for 2012 “We have weddings all over the place, but usually the brides are local. Our brides span the country and further, but they usually book us based on local recommendations.”

A couple of years ago, Kerry and her team – which includes John and Shaun who mainly help with wedding work and venue set up, Jackie who helps with everyday floristry, and then Astra, Steph and Rachel who all help with the shop and wedding consultations – were asked to supply a bouquet and a table design for Wedding Flowers Magazine, with Kerry exclaiming: “How exciting!” It’s things like this that will get you noticed.

As for Kerry’s favourite wedding: “I loved one we had back in July as there was an abundance of stocks, which are my favourite flower. We were surrounded by 1600 stems!”

Looking forward, Kerry plans to open a shop in Cheshire, and with an exciting year ahead of her, we can learn a lot from Kerry…….

Wedding of Charlotte and Paul 24th July 2011

Good afternoon all

We were delighted to receive images today from a Wedding we provided the flowers for back in July at the stunning and exclusive East Lodge Hotel. I absolutely LOVE this venue and the feel of it, so was very excited to receive these, courtesy of Michael Nowill Photography.

Charlotte with her Bridesmaids, beautiful image

The Bride gave us a brief of the bouquet being HUGE of which we were really pleased about, as this doesn’t happen very often! We sourced gorgeous Peonys, Roses and Hydrangeas for the bouquet decorated with the Brides own brooch and ribbon detail.

The adult bridesmaids wore wrist corsages which looked so pretty against the taupe coloured dresses.

The young bridesmaids looked adorable in their dresses with simple posies of Roses.

Darby and Joan, all things vintage

Darby & Joan

Nice stuff for a comfy life
To cut a sweet story short, Darby & Joan supply THE most beautiful vintage china, glassware & vintage accessories for weddings or any occasion where a touch of chic, vintage glamour is required. A (vintage) cup & a half full of joy!

There are many companies out there who offer a similar service, but you will see from their website that they have such a passion (or obsession!) for what they do & I cannot imagine you would find a more accommodating hire company to work with.

They also make gorgeous natural wax candles in just about any kind of vintage container you can imagine…tea cups, sugar bowls, shot glasses, serving bowls…the possibilities go on & on. They use the loveliest fragrances you could wish for: Vanilla & Star Anise; Lime, Basil & Mandarin; Grapefruit to name just a few.

Gorgeous!

When we first met Karen from Darby & Joan we hit it off straight away & I fell in love with her style, attention to detail & her love of what she does with Darby & Joan is easy to see. I asked her to make signature candles for us at Tineke, something that I have been desperate to do!

The lovely Karen

It was important that we found a fragrance that suited our own style & we decided on a signature scent of Peony, which is just to die for. A bonus is that the wax is environmentally friendly, offers a long lasting scent, is virtually soot free when burning & unlike paraffin wax, is easy to wash out of containers & spillages clean up easily.

Vintage tea party - ideal girly day or hen party

We offer our Tineke candles in contemporary square glass containers, finished with our signature ribbon. Due to demand & customer requests, we have recently added Sweetpea & Vintage Gardenia to our menu & Darby & Joan will be making some glorious festive scented candles which will be ready for early November

We will be selling both the signature Tineke candles along with the vintage candles online and in our new shop & we hope to open our doors October/November. So pop by or visit the Darby & Joan website for some vintage loveliness

Gorgeous testimonial from a gorgeous couple…

Hi all

Thought I would share some amazing images with you, courtesy of Karl Bratby of I-Life Photography Nottinghamshire, along with the testimonial that we received from the Bride:

Doesn't she look amazing?!

Planning a Wedding can be a busy and sometimes stressful time, but it makes life easier knowing you have booked a supplier who you can trust to do a fantastic job. Kerry has been more than our florist, she has been on hand for all sorts of advice and guidance and has been a great support and friend throughout the whole planning process. Ever since our first meeting, we were impressed with how friendly and helpful Kerry was and how we were made to feel our wedding was the only one she was working with! Kerry took time to discuss ideas, to look through portfolios, and even rung me whilst on the phone to Holland to check the exact roses we wanted, super!! On arrival at our venue, we found Kerry had not only made the centrepieces look STUNNING but had also scoured the room to see where she can trail some ivy or bring the whole look of the room together, such a fantastic service. I cannot recommend Tineke highly enough for anybody planning a wedding, a fantastic service throughout, somebody to turn to for advice and recommendations and last but not least beautiful flowers and exquisite arrangements. Thanks Kerry and to everybody at Tineke!!

Eva and Chris were married on 20th August, a lovely day, at Repton Church, followed by reception at Breadsall Priory in Derby.

Bridal Bouquet with lace detail, and vintage inspired pieces

The couple have impeccable taste, and chose gunmental grey as their colour scheme with dusky pink flowers. There was a lovely vintage feel to the Wedding, with the chalkboard seating plan, the amazing candleabras decorated with Ivy trails and flowers. The Bride had also created the favours herself, which we thought very original – Kinder eggs wrapped in vintage floral fabric – very nice!

The Bride carried a bouquet of Ivory Avalanche Roses, simply finished with lace detail to compliment the dress, and gunmental grey ribbon.

Bridal bouquet with Bridesmaid bouquets - love this shot!

The Bridesmaids carried bouquets of 3 varieties of dusky pink Roses with delicate foliage.

Wedding flowers for Tracy and Mark at Lakeside

Good afternoon all

Thought I would take a breather, and share some wonderful images from our Wedding last weekend at the stunning Lakeside Tower in Arnold photographed by Forever Young Photography.

Tracy looked absoloutely stunning as she arrived in her gorgeous car driven by Luxury Chauffeured cars. The tables were decorated with our impressive 90cm tall vases filled with water pearls, and filled with ivory Hydrangeas, ivory Roses and dark green foliages.

We caught a glimpse of the happy couple, as were were transforming the venue from ceremony to wedding breakfast.

We heard Michael Moore practising his singing, in time for the Bride and Groom arriving, which was quite relaxing as we quickly transformed the room. Image shows close up of the Bridal bouquet decorated with Swarovski crystals.

Now, back to the Weddings for this weekend, we have one tomorrow at the Riverbank in Nottingham, one in Bakewell at the Brides home and one at Breadsall Priory on Saturday – all very different Weddings with pictures to follow

Kerry x
